The photographer I added this section for those of you who might want to know a little about the photographer you see on the trail. It is a brief background of how I got started in photography. In 1979, upon completeing the eighth grade, I received a Pentax ME Super 35mm camera as a gift. I had wanted a camera as I was living in Squaw Valley, CA and enjoyed the outdoors greatly. I wanted to show my family and friends sights I had seen on my hikes and wanted a visual record of time spent in the mountains. My camera joined me on all my hiking adventures in Squaw Valley, Desolation Wilderness, the east shore of Lake Tahoe(TRT), Shirley Canyon, etc. I photographed landscapes mainly since there was an abundance of it around. My first experience as a professional action photographer came in 1992 with Rapid Shooters, of Coloma, CA. Rapid Shooters photographs river rafters on the North, South, and Middle Forks of the American River, as well as the Kings, Kern and Merced rivers. This opportunity got me hooked on action and sports photography. In 1993 I shot part-time for Spectrum Photography, of Carmichael, CA. Spectrum photographed youth team and individual sports. I learned plenty with Spectrum and continued there for 8 years. At the same time working for Spectrum, I spent three years with Home Depot and another three years at Hewlett Packard. In 1998 I decided to take the plunge and go full-time with photography. Four years later, I couldn't be happier. I've combined my love of the outdoors and photography into a unique off-road event photography company. I have photographed local events as small as a 5k, to international events, like the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run and the Nissan Xterra World Championship in Maui. While on top of Marlette Peak for the Tahoe Rim Trail 50k/50m, a woman said to me "look at you, all smiles." I replied. "Of course... I'm on top of a mountain, its a beautiful day, and the landscape is awesome... I couldn't ask for more." See you on the trail, |
